Knock Me for a Loop is HERE!!!

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

Groundhog Pictures, Images and PhotosI should be wishing everyone a Happy Groundhog Day right about now, but there are more important things going on today than whether or not some overgrown rodent sees his shadow!

You know what I’m talking about.

I’m talking about…

KNOCK ME FOR A LOOP

LAUNCH DAY!!!

That’s right. The long-awaited “Chicks with Sticks” Book 3, Zack & Grace’s story, is FINALLY here!  Yippee!

If you haven’t already pre-ordered your copy, I hope you’ll all run out & buy KNOCK ME FOR A LOOP today.  Though you may want to call ahead to make sure your local bookstore has it in stock; they can sometimes take a couple days to start showing up on shelves.

And encourage your friends to do the same!  Then invite them to join us here in The Dungeon.  You know we’ll show them a good time. (Well, maybe not that good, but you know what I mean. )

Also while you’re out & about, remember to take pictures of your “Book Sightings” & send them to me so I can post them in coming weeks.  And if you’re a Street Walker, remember to put all of that nifty promotional stuff I just sent out to good use.   (Okay, maybe not that good, but again, you know what I mean. )

Now, you all know about the recent brouhaha between Amazon & my publisher, Macmillan/St. Martin’s Press.  You probably also know that even though Amazon has supposedly capitulated, KNOCK ME FOR A LOOP is still not available (in either ebook or paperback form) via the Amazon website.

But we are not going to focus on that, nor are we going to let it get us down.  Instead, we’re going to spread the word that KNOCK ME FOR A LOOP can be purchased quite easily via Barnes and Noble.com, Borders, Books-a-Million, etc.  As well as brick-&-mortar bookstores across the nation—Barnes & Noble, Borders, Waldenbooks…  If they don’t have copies on the shelf when you get there, march right up to a store clerk & tell them to order one for you!  This is hugely helpful in letting stores know that there’s a demand for the book, & they might even order in a few extra while they’re ordering yours.   With luck, KNOCK ME FOR A LOOP will also be available at all your regular retail stores, such as Wal-Mart, Target, K-Mart…  So check there, too.

Last but not least, we are going to have FUN today, because Author Island is hosting a Cyber Launch Party for Zack & Grace.  There will be chatting & a free book giveaway, & just oodles of funny, sexy, knitting-related fun!   So be sure to drop by & show your support, have a few laughs, & possibly win some pirate booty.

and the winners are…

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

With the release of KNOCK ME FOR A LOOP only 25 short days away—February 2nd…have I mentioned yet that it will be out February 2nd???!!!—I warned you that The Dungeon would be hopping this month…& probably next, too!…& that there would be more very fun giveaways in your future.  (It’s like I’m psychic or something. )

So are you a member of the Heidi Betts’s Street Walkers Street Team yet?

If not, now is definitely the time to join.

Basically, the Street Walkers is a group of dedicated readers who chat up my books online…use word of mouth to promote new titles through their blogs, review sites, etc….& are willing to run around to local bookstores and retail outlets the first week or so of a new book’s release with promotional items that I provide to get the word out about new releases to readers & booksellers.

For more information on that, visit the Heidi Betts’s Street Walkers website, where my Street Team leader (aka Huggy Bear *g*) has all the details & explains all the ways you can help get the word out about my books.

And with the release of KNOCK ME FOR A LOOP right around the corner, I need my Street Walkers more than ever!

To those of you who have already signed up to become a Heidi Betts Street Walker—thank you very much! If you haven’t yet been in touch with Huggy Bear/Darling Laura J. to request the number of promo items you need (shelf talkers & bookmarks) to spread the word about KNOCK ME FOR A LOOP, please do so as soon as possible by e-mailing ctgmom at insightbb dot com (replacing “at” with “@” & “dot” with “.” & using no spaces in between, of course). And put something like “Street Team items request” in the header so she’ll know what’s up. Be sure, too, that she has your current/updated e-mail & mailing addresses, okay?!

If you are NOT a Street Walker, but would like to be, you can also e-mail Huggy Bear/Darling Laura J. at ctgmom at insightbb dot com (replacing “at” with “@” & “dot” with “.” & using no spaces in between), & using “I want to be a Street Walker!” in the subject line. Please include your name, e-mail, & mailing address, as well as letting her know how many shelf-talkers & bookmarks you’d like to receive for your promo efforts this time around.

So where’s the giveaway part of today’s post? you might be wondering. She did mention a giveaway, didn’t she?

I know, I’m such a tease.

But here it is:

GIVEAWAY #1 — To one current member of my Street Walkers Street Team, I will be giving away an autographed ARC of KNOCK ME FOR A LOOP, which have just come in & are hot off the presses.

GIVEAWAY #2 — To one NEW member of my Street Walkers Street Team, I will also be giving away an autographed ARC of KNOCK ME FOR A LOOP.

That’s two chances for a sneak peek at “Chicks with Sticks” Book 3, Zack & Grace’s story, as a thank-you to those of you who do so much to help me get the word out about my stories.

I’ll run this giveaway until JANUARY 15, 2010, since we need time to get you added to or updated on the Street Team list & also get those handy dandy promo items in the mail so you’ll have them by the time KNOCK ME FOR A LOOP comes out!

So don’t waste a minute…sign up or make your promo item request NOW!

And thank you in advance for being the best readers a romance author could ask for.

LOVES ME, LOVES ME KNOT is HERE!!!!

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

This is it.  Today is the day.  LOVES ME, LOVES ME KNOT has officially been released & should be showing up in bookstores across the country as we speak. (Maybe even Wal-Marts, K-Marts, Targets, etc., but I’m not entirely sure.  I’m hoping you guys will look into that for me & then let me know. )

Let’s all do the Chicken Little Dance, shall we?

Now, for those of you who have either contacted me about promo items or signed up for Heidi Betts’s Street Walkers—or both!—this is where you get put to work.  Please be sure to keep everything I sent you in your purse (or at the very least your car ) so that you have them with you each & every time you visit a store that might have copies of LOVES ME in stock.  Then, when you find them, simply make sure they’re facing cover out, put a shelf-talker up in front of them, add a Great Read! sticker to the front, & stick in a couple of bookmarks.  If a bookseller is nearby & seems interested in what you’re doing, take the opportunity to supply her/him with some bookmarks, talk me up, & encourage her to talk the book up to other customers.  As Austin Powers’s father would say, “Easy-peasy, lemon-squeezy.”  (  Can you tell I watched Goldmember over the weekend?)

For those of you who haven’t joined the Street Team (well, there’s still time, certainly, so if you’re interested, visit the site or e-mail Laura J. or me!) or haven’t yet decided if you want to try LOVES ME, LOVES ME KNOT, have I got a Top 10 list for you!

Top 10 Reasons to Run Out & Buy LOVES ME, LOVES ME KNOT

(Right Now!)

Alpaca Pictures, Images and Photos10. It’s a book about alpacas, & how often do you see that?  (Well, okay, not about alpacas—it’s about knitting & hot, sweaty sex…I mean, romance—but alpacas do play a rather large part in the story.)

9. If you read Book #1 (TANGLED UP IN LOVE), then you’ve got to read Book #2, right?  And if you didn’t read Book #1…what the heck is your problem?!?

Lucille Ball Pictures, Images and Photos8. LOVES ME, LOVES ME KNOT includes another knitting pattern closely related to Jenna & Gage’s story.

7. More of your favorite matchmaker & mine—Charlotte!

6. You finally get to find out more about Jenna & Gage…why they broke up, what their backgrounds are, how they (maybe, possibly) get back together.

5. You’ve gotta know what’s happening to the “Chicks with Sticks” before Book #3 (KNOCK ME FOR A LOOP, February 2010) comes out, right?

4. You learn a lot about Grace & Zack in this book…  First they’re together, then they’re not together, & LOVES ME, LOVES ME KNOT is where you’ll find out why & how it all comes down.  Trust me, that is not something you want to miss.  Plus, it’s something that made me cackle like a wicked little witch…you do want to know what made me literally cackle out loud, don’t you?

3. Gage is a very sexy, very well-built—very; trust me, there was actual drool involved in the writing of this book, he was so freaking hot —tattooed, motorcycle-riding hero.

(Do I even need to list two more reasons after that? )

All right, if you insist…

2. Remember the naked knitting from TANGLED UP IN LOVE?  Well, there is even more in LOVES ME, LOVES ME KNOT.  Or at least knitting that leads to some events that involve much nakedness.

1. Five words:  Gage.  Tied.  To.  The.  Bed. (And, yes, it includes more nudity. )

So there you go, ten very good reason to run out & buy LOVES ME, LOVES ME KNOT immediately—& then pull a Laura & start reading it in the car on the way home from the store…even if you’re the one driving!

And if that doesn’t do it for you, I honestly don’t know what to say to convince you.  Guess I’ll just have to get myself a big denim jumper & bedazzle my message across the front a la Macy Gray.

Please don’t make me do that.  Seriously.

a second call to action

Monday, July 13th, 2009

Last week, I posted about the formation of the “Heidi Betts’s Street Walkers” Street Team & asked for your help in getting the word out about LOVES ME, LOVES ME KNOT’s upcoming release by visiting your local stores & bookstores to display bookmarks & shelf-talkers.  (If you didn’t see the post, or haven’t contacted me for promo items yet, check it out here.)

This week, I’d like to remind you of how powerful word-of-mouth can be, & ask you to talk up LOVES ME, LOVES ME KNOT every chance you get.

Think of how many blogs you visit every day or week…how many reader loops you belong to…how many bulletin boards or chat rooms you participate in on a regular basis…even just how many romance-reading friends you’re in contact with.

Now think of how much you could raise the awareness about LOVES ME, LOVES ME KNOT if you were to mention it a few times at each of these places.

No, I’m not asking you to interrupt someone else’s chat or make some awkward blanket statement that will leave everyone wondering if you’ve lost your marbles, but if you could simply talk up LOVES ME, as well as any or all of my other books as often as you’re given the opportunity, it would really, really help to get people interested in & watching for my books.

Remember, we’re working on that whole “undying gratitude” thing.

And remember, too, to sign up for the Street Walkers group, if you haven’t already.  (Contact Laura directly if you have any questions or difficulty with the website—hb.streetteam@yahoo.com.)  In addition to supplying promotional materials for you to take around to your local bookstores & retail locations, much of the group’s focus will be on this very thing—talking me up to friends & fellow romance readers.

So get on board & start doing what we all do best—chatting about (my) books.

calling all Darlings of The Dungeon

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

Although I’m running a bit behind, it is time again to promote the heck out of one of my books. This time, the second installment of the “Chicks with Sticks” trilogy, LOVES ME, LOVES ME KNOT.

(I know, I know; you’re all well aware of this.  But I’ve gotta do the whole refresher thing just in case a few neophytes drop in & decide they, too, would like to become Darlings of The Dungeon.  After all, Mistress Heidi is always on the lookout for new recruits. )

So that is why I am once again turning to you, my Darlings, to ask for your assistance in getting the word out about LOVES ME, LOVES ME KNOT.

If you would be willing to hit your local bookstores (& Wal-Marts, K-Marts, Targets…the whole nine yards) to talk up my book, hand out bookmarks, & display shelf-talkers, let me know.  Let me know, too, how many of each item you think you can use, & I will get them in the mail to you as soon as I can!

shelftalker_lovesme

But that’s not all!  Or very own wonderful, fabulous Darling Laura J. (a.k.a. Lady of the Whip) has taken the reins on a terrific new project called “Heidi Betts’s Street Walkers.”  (Yeah, yeah, I know, but it’s cute, right?  And it goes rather well with the theme we’ve begun both here & over at Happy Bookers.)

Basically, this group is what’s known as a “street team.”  Folks who are willing to hit the streets & talk up a particular author…visit their local bookstores & chat with the booksellers about the author’s books…& when a new book is coming out, wallpaper the world with bookmarks, shelf-talkers, & plain old word-of-mouth.

Although it’s only in the beginning stages (read: rough draft, with updates & changes still to be made), Laura has designed a website just for this purpose:  http://hbstreetteam.wordpress.com/ So be sure to check it out!

And while you’re there, sign up to become a “Street Walker” so Laura can get you on the list & get ready to send you all the promotional items you’ll need to join the Street Team & start—he he—walkin’ the streets.

Because this idea is so new & we’re still working out the kinks, things aren’t quite as organized as they should be, but we do have plans to do some very fun, exclusive stuff within the Street Walkers group.  We’re looking into having exclusive totes designed for you to carry all your goodies from store to store…possibly some badges that will identify you as Street Team members…& there will be prizes & giveaways & special things going on once you sign up.

So if you’ve done this type of promo for me before & are happy to continue doing it in the future, visit the Street Walkers website or e-mail Laura directly at hb.streetteam@yahoo.com with your name, address, & an idea of how many items (bookmarks, shelf-talkers, Great Read! stickers, etc.) you think you can use.  Chances are, you’ll automatically be sent the items you need to get the word out about new titles in the future.

If you haven’t done this before & are a little nervous, feel free to ask questions or chat with the other Darlings about what all is involved & what you need to do.  It’s really not that difficult, & you will of course have my undying gratitude for your efforts.

Note:  Since I am running a bit late this year getting this notice posted, even if you’re planning to sign up for the Street Team directly through Laura, please e-mail me, as well, to let me know what promo items you need.  I have to get those in the mail pronto if you’re going to start hitting the stores & posting the shelf-talkers when the book actually comes out starting August 4th, so I’ll get that done & then forward your information to Laura so we can be sure not to duplicate your membership.

Laura—did I forget anything?  Please feel free to jump in here & fill in the gaps.

And a huge THANK YOU in advance to everyone for your continued support & help with these efforts.  Did I mention undying gratitude?
