Happy Sunday, everyone!

Thank you for joining us last week for our fabulous REAL MEN LAST ALL NIGHT guest blog.  How exciting to have so many terrific authors all in the same place to talk about the anthology, huh?  I, for one, was very impressed.

Which brings me to the first order of business today…prizes!  I promised to give away my two Advance Reading Copies of REAL MEN LAST ALL NIGHT, & the handy-dandy number generator (also known has Harley Doodle Betts, who loves nothing more than jumping into a pile of balled-up pieces of paper ) has chosen our winners…

Mary!!! & Pat L.!!!

Congratulations, ladies!  Please contact me with you full names & mailing addresses & I’ll get your books (autographed by Yours Truly, at least ) out to you as soon as I can.

So what else is on the list for happy dancing this week?

Well, I’ve had a couple of moments recently that made me fear my brain might explode & leak out my ears, but they seem to be passing.

One thing I’m happy to know is that we’ve got a title for the Lori Foster benefit book now.  It’s going to be called THE GIFT OF LOVE, which goes so well with the two previous collections, THE POWER OF LOVE & TAILS OF LOVE.

BLACK SQUIRREL Pictures, Images and PhotosAnd something that may not impress you guys, but has me so excited, I want to wet my pants…  I spotted a black squirrel in the feeder one day this week.  Just woke up, opened the blinds, & there he was.

I’m so happy.  I love my birds & squirrels & chipmunks, but have only ever had the usual gray & red variety (of squirrels) before.  Never have I seen a black squirrel in my yard or in our neighborhood.  And I feed them!  Most people try to keep squirrels out of their bird feeders, but I buy peanuts & other special treats just to lure them in.  The cats love them—they think it’s their favorite channel on CAT TV —but I get a huge kick out of them, too!

I only saw the Cajun guy once (yes, that’s what I’ve named him), but I sure hope he’s still out there, safe & sound.  And I hope he comes back again soon so I can ooh & ahh some more!

And that, sad as it is, pretty much tops the list this week.  Squirrels, new titles, & giving away books.  Almost more excitement than one girl can take!

So now it’s your turn!  Regale us with what you’ve got to be grateful for or in celebration of this week.

Happy Flag Day Pictures, Images and PhotosGood morning, everyone!  I’m a little late getting to The Dungeon today, probably because I stayed up late last night, then hit the snooze button ninety-seven times this morning.

But Happy Sunday & Happy Flag Day!  (Did you know it was Flag Day?  I kinda didn’t until just now when I looked at the calendar.  Whoopsy. Bad American Girl! )

So what shall we—or at least I—be grateful for this Sunday?  Well, my new Brava deal certainly tops the list.  I mean, duh.

And then there’s the fact that I have finally gotten all of the May giveaway books packed up & ready to mail for those of you who won goodies both here & at Must Love Yarn.  I haven’t sent them yet, but they are ready & will go out this week.  I (almost) promise.

One problem, however…  I think I have an extra copy or two of Carla Neggers’s The Angel.  So either I counted wrong, or somebody who won one of the May giveaway prizes hasn’t contacted me with their mailing information.  The ready-to-mail packages are for:   Sabrina, Carrie, Margay, Jenifer, Jane, & Hollie, so if your name is not in there somewhere & you know for a fact you won something, contact me!

I’m also happy that my kitties seem to be on the mend.  A couple of them are still taking meds & I’ll need to do the whole vet visit/urine samples thing again to be really, really sure, but they seem to be feeling better.  (Fingers crossed & prayers winging heavenward, anyway. )

And last but not least, I’m glad to be back working on my novella for THE GIFT OF LOVE.  Had a bit of a slow-down there when life got hectic & turned upside-down, but I’m back at it now & hoping to finish it soon.  Speaking of which, I should probably get to it…

So how about the rest of you?  What terrific, thankful-for things do you have to share this week?

what would you do…?

Word of the Week: — Flavorgasm — When eating food so good that you let out an involuntary moan, usually with the first bite.  Can also be used as an adjective—flavorgasmic.

~~~
This week’s prize is a third & final autographed copy of Carla Neggers’s hardcover release THE ANGEL. (But join us again next week, because we do have more prizes lined up! )
This week’s question is:
What would you do to avoid incurring Mistress Heidi’s wrath?
(Though everyone is invited to play along, the giveaway is limited to U.S. residents only, please, because of the high cost of sending books overseas. Thanks for your understanding!)
~~~

And as for last’s week’s giveaway of another autographed copy of The Angel by Carla Neggers…

MySpace Smiley Sign Generator

Bonia!!!

Congratulations, Bonia!  I have to admit, it was very hard to choose a winner this week, with all the Dwayne-related bribery flying around. But I picked Bonia because she offered to kidnap my Dwaynie Dearest, tie him to my bed, & let me keep him forever & ever, amen.   Who could resist that?  And you know I would take very good care of him, making sure he received adequate sustenance.  Gotta keep his strength up for all the work he’ll be doing…even while tied & sometimes gagged.

Bonia, please contact me with your mailing information so I can get your book to you.

And to everyone—please, please, please keep up the terrific battle to win the “What Would You Do…?” challenges.  If only because it amuses me so.

what would you do…?

Word of the Week: Man-me-downs — Men who are passed on from one woman to another after a failed attempt at romance.

~~~
If you haven’t been paying attention & need a refresher on exactly what “What Would You Do…? Wednesday” is, click here to read last Wednesday’s post.  Otherwise…
This week’s What Would You Do…? question is:
What would you do to become a character in one of my (Heidi’s…not Mistress Heidi’s; that would just be frightening ) stories?
The prize:  An autographed copy of The Angel by Carla Neggers, in hardcover.  (You know you want it. )
(Remember:  U.S. residents only for the giveaway, please, but everybody is invited to play along with the one-upmanship.)
~~~

And lest you think I forgot, I have a winner to announce from last week’s giveaway.  Same prize as this week:  an autographed copy of The Angel by Carla Neggers.  Let us return to that post & see who did the best job of sucking up, shall we?

MySpace Smiley Sign Generator

  Jane!!!

Congratulations, Jane!  You win because you offered to clean my house, feed my babies, & give me a massage.  And anybody who would voluntarily brave the jungle of junk & clutter that is my house, as well as being willing to cut up raw meats & fish for the kitties, deserves a prize!  Although we may have to barter on the length of time you’re willing to spend here…a week just doesn’t seem like it would be long enough to hack your way through the hanging vines & palm fronds.

A couple of you ran a close second to Jane’s bribery, though.  I particularly liked the offer to bake me brownies & crochet angel wings.  (Be sure you bring that one over to Must Love Yarn when you take a crack at winning the prizes I’m offering there!)

So Jane, contact me with your mailing information & I’ll get your book in the mail as soon as I can.

And everyone feel free to take off the gloves & let ‘er rip for today’s “What would you do…?” challenge!

super Sunday

Sunday, May 3rd, 2009

Good morning, everyone!  How great was Lori Handeland’s visit last month?  I’m so happy she was able to pop in & chat with us about her latest release, DOOMSDAY CAN WAIT.  And you know she promised to give away three prizes during her guest blog, so of course I still need to announce Winner #3.  (I love this part; it’s like being Regis Philbin or something & getting to give away a million dollars every week on a game show. )

Lori’s third & final prize, by the way—for those of you who may not remember—is autographed copies of the first two books in her “The Phoenix Chronicles” urban fantasy series, ANY GIVEN DOOMSDAY & DOOMSDAY CAN WAIT.

MySpace Smiley Sign Generator

  Ellen Dye!!!

Congratulations, Ellen!  You know the drill.  Or if you don’t, please contact me with your mailing information & I’ll forward it to Lori so she can sign & send your prizes!

Thank you to everyone for joining our guest author in April & making her feel so very welcome to The Dungeon, & keep an eye out for future guest bloggers, as well as future giveaways.  I have to admit that I don’t have anyone lined up yet for May…but I do have a small idea of who might be dropping in.  If things think it will still be fun & very informative.  So stayed tuned for news about that.

And you’ll be happy to hear that I do have authors lined up to visit all through the Fall, including…eep, I’m so excited, I can barely contain myself…Lori Foster, Lora Leigh, & Cheyenne McCray in June!  Yep, all three are on board—at the moment, at least; & hopefully nothing will happen to throw our plans off course—to come & chat about REAL MEN LAST ALL NIGHT.

Whoot-whoot!  Whoot-whoot!

I’d also like to post a brief reminder for everyone—if you would, please—to vote for the Hundred Cat Foundation at The Animal Rescue Site EVERY DAY!!! They can use all the help they can get & every vote counts.  If you don’t know what I’m talking about or have forgotten the details, click here & scroll down through my April 14th post to read all about it.  It’s really very easy, & I would be most appreciative of your help…as would the organization & the kitty cats it helps to put into safe, happy new homes!

And that’s about it for me this Sunday.  I’m still in the same spot I was last week, with being thankful for a handful of things (I think ), but unable to mention them just yet, so I’m going to leave it to you to share your gratitude lists in my place. Let ‘er rip, guys!

buying myself some time

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Mistress Heidi & I are still pretty whipped—pun intended, hehe—from the Retreat, & not doing a very good job of recovering.  Of course, it would probably help if we hadn’t come home to a zillion tasks that have to be performed right now.  So it may take us a while to catch up enough to fill y’all in on how much fun we had away from The Dungeon.    (Gasp!  I know, that’s blasphemy around here, right? Eeek, I’m in trouble now! )

But to buy myself some time in coming up with a brand new, Retreat-related post, I thought I’d end the suspense & share the names our esteemed guest blogger for this month, Lori Handeland, has drawn as the winners of her first two giveaways.

MySpace Smiley Sign Generator

  Barb & Laura J.!!!

Congratulations, gals!  As you know, Lori will be sending you both autographed copies of the first book in her “The Phoenix Chronicles” series, ANY GIVEN DOOMSDAY.  So contact me with your mailing information & I’ll pass it along to Lori so she can get your prizes in the mail.

And remember, everyone, Lori will be with us again next MONDAY, APRIL 27th to chat even more about her fabulous new urban fantasy series & answer all of your most pressing post-apocalyptic questions.    She will also be giving away one last fabulous prize—autographed copies of both ANY GIVEN DOOMSDAY and her brand new May release, DOOMSDAY CAN WAIT.  How exciting is that?

So don’t miss it, or I’ll have to send Mistress Heidi dole out your punishment.

and the winner is…

Thank you so much to Sheila Roberts for joining us yesterday to talk about her new book, LOVE IN BLOOM.

Alas, if we only had more gardeners than Dungeon-dwellers here at WIPs and Chains, we might have been able to start a nice, long chat about fertilizers & planting seasons.  (One of us should have at least thought to dig out The Farmer’s Almanac, huh? )  But what do you expect when Mistress Heidi & her Darlings spend most of their time underground in the catacombs with hot, sweaty, sexy men in dire need of discipline?

But even so, Sheila has been kind enough to give away one final autographed copy of BIKINI SEASON, along with a packet of LOVE IN BLOOM flower seeds, & I am here to announce who those prizes will go to…

MySpace Smiley Sign Generator

Ellen!!!

Congratulations, Ellen!  Since you’re the one gardener in our midst, you’re really going to enjoy this!

Please contact me with your mailing information, which I’ll pass along to Sheila so she can get your book & seed packet in the mail!

And to those of you who may have said, “I’ll take one” in response to my LOVES ME, LOVES ME KNOT bookmark offer, but may not have seen my follow-up comment, please remember that I’ll need you to contact me with your mailing information & request for that, too.  Even if you think I already have your address, it’s just going to be so much easier for me to have all the requests with all the e-mails right there at my fingertips to cut & paste & “fill orders” in one fell swoop.

Thanks so much!

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

Sorry for the late post everyone.  Had a touch of food poisoning or a flu bug or something yesterday, so I’ve pretty much been lying around & slept in—or remained unconscious—this morning. LOL

First things first.  We’ve got prizes to give away!  Our March guest blogger, Sheila Roberts, has once again drawn a name for the autographed copy of BIKINI SEASON & pack of LOVE IN BLOOM flower seeds.

MySpace Smiley Sign Generator

   Laura J.!!!

Congratulations, Laura!  Please contact me with your mailing address & I’ll forward that to Sheila so she can get your prizes out to you.

Something else to celebrate this week is that a handful of Dungeon friends (& personal ones, as well) have been nominated for RITA awards this year.  I am very excited for them & will be happy to hoot & holler & cheer them on at the RWA National conference in Washington, D.C. this summer.

Those friends & finalist are:

Jessica Andersen for TWIN TARGETS (Jessica was a guest of The Dungeon a while back, you’ll remember, & both she & her books are just terrific.  A very deserving honor for this chick!)

Cherry Adair for NIGHT SECRETS (Cherry is such a hoot!  She calls me “little Heidi Betts”…I’m not sure why.  But she’s fun & amusing & her books are great.)

Cindy Gerard for TAKE NO PRISONERS (Another terrific lady & (formerly) fellow Desireable & St. Martin’s Press author.  Wonder if I can talk her into dropping by The Dungeon soon. )

Lisa Kleypas for SEDUCE ME AT SUNRISE (You all know how I feel about Lisa.  She is the sweetest, kindest, most generous person on the plant.  Or if there’s someone sweeter, kinder, or more generous out there, I’ve never meet them.)

Sharon Sala for THE HEALER (Sharon has never visited The Dungeon, but she is a total sweetheart & I look forward to seeing her each & every year at the confernence.  Oh, & even though she’s written a gazillion books, if you haven’t read JACKSON RULE under her Dinah McCall pen name, you’re missing out on something truly fantastic.)

Colleen Thompson for TRIPLE THREAT (Colleen is also a good friend, & has been a visitor to our dark & dangerous Dungeon.  We’re already planning to have drinks at the RWA conference this summer, I just don’t know if it will be before or after she wins that RITA )

Lori Handeland for THUNDER MOON (Lori is absolutely fantastic, too.  We’ve been getting to know each other better & better ever since I sold to St. Martin’s Press, & she’ll be our guest next month here in The Dungeon to talk about her upcoming “Phoenix Chronicles” book, DOOMSDAY CAN WAIT.  Don’t miss it!)

There are many more on the list, but these are the authors I know personally & so am super-excited for.  So please join me in giving these ladies three big Dungeon cheers.  And as I said, if you haven’t read them yet, you’re missing something special.

All right, your turn.  What are you celebrating this week that you’d like to share?

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

Sorry for the late post, but I slept in this morning & was too lazy to put something together last night.

Important stuff first…

Our March guest author, Sheila Roberts, chose a winner for her first giveaway—an autographed copy of BIKINI SEASON & a packet of LOVE IN BLOOM flower seeds.

Pam!

Congratulations, Pam!  I’ve already got your address filed away, so I’ll forward that to Sheila & I’m sure she’ll get your prizes in the mail to you asap.

Sheila will be here again tomorrow with her answers to the infamous interview questions.  Something you definitely don’t want to miss, right?

Now on to the Super Sunday portion of our post. *g*  As some of you know already, I had yet another wee procedure done yesterday—yes, on a Saturday; it was very odd, to say the least—& am thoroughly sick of doctors poking at & cutting on me.  But I had this tiny growth on the inside corner of my eye that was starting to get noticeable & annoying, so it had to come off.  (Joy of joys, the doctor says I’ll probably get more of them & to just call him when they appear.  Oh, goody for me! )

eye-cystI would like to say that the procedure itself wasn’t so bad…& after the jaw surgery, you wouldn’t think a tiny thing like this would bother me much…but let me tell you, when he stuck the needle in there to numb the area, it turn like a mother.  And he did it twice!  Ouch.  The second worst part of it didn’t have to do with pain, but the fact that I could hear him cutting this thing out of me.  Ohmigod, it gave me the willies.  A snip-snip through human flesh, but also a kind of low grinding sound like he was going through roots or bones or something.  Next time, I am definitely taking ear plugs!

All in all, though, it wasn’t so bad.  I didn’t look great afterward, which I could tell by my mother’s cringe when she saw me & then her requests that I “keep my sunglasses on” so I didn’t gross out anyone else.  Nice, Mom, thanks for the loving sympathy. LOL

And I didn’t feel much of anythin either until…you guessed it, about two minutes after I left the office.  Boy, that Novocaine or whatever he used sure did wear off fast.  Then it was a lot of throbbing & low, stabbing pains.  I had to get a prescription for some antibiotic ointment, so I even asked the pharmacist if there was anything I could dab on to kill the pain a bit, or if I was stuck with just Advil & Long Island iced tea.  He said yeah, Advil & alcohol. LOL  Then he asked where I was going for my painkiller drink & if he could come along.  He was not Dwayne Johnson, but was kind of cute, too; if he hadn’t been working, I’d have probably taken him up on it.

Ironically, the drink gave me a headache, but that did take my mind off the eye throb & by the time the vodka wore off, my eye seemed to feel better, too.  And this morning, you can hardly tell anything happened to it.  It feels like I’ve got some sleep in the corner & I keep wanting to rub it, but otherwise you’d hardly know anything was there.

So I’m most grateful that all of that is over & done with & that I can move on.

I’m also happy that I finished The Darkest Night, thanks to time in the waiting room…& mostly because I’m always happy & excited when I finish a book & get to start something new.  If only I could do it faster & more often!

And the writing is going well, too, which I’m always grateful for.

So how about you guys?  What’s going on with you this week that you’re exceptionally happy or thankful for?

a Friday funny

Friday, February 27th, 2009

A wee bit of catching up to do today before we laugh our butts off over this week’s Friday Funnies.

Lest you think Karen slacked off in her prize drawing duties, she did not.  She sent me a name from her second visit last weekend, but I failed to get it posted before now.   Allow me to rectify that.

For the autographed copy of GIVE ME FEVER…

  Pam!!!

And for the autographed copy of UP CLOSE AND DANGEROUSLY SEXY (which is available now!) & a Mission:  Impossible II DVD from Karen’s final guest blog post this past Wednesday…

  Laura J.!!!

Congratulations, Pam & Laura!  You know the drill:  Contact me with your mailing address & I’ll forward the information to Karen so she can send your prizes!

Thank you again to everyone for hanging out in The Dungeon yesterday & making my BFF feel so very welcome.  We’ll have to see if we can get her to drop by again, don’t you think?

Now on to the funny stuff, as required by the Law of The Dungeon!

Today’s Friday Funnies come to us courtesy of our own Sonya J.  She sent more than this, actually, but these put me a bit in mind of TANGLED UP IN LOVE, so I decided to use them first.   Enjoy!

sonya3

sonya4

sonya6

Thanks for the belly laughs, Sonya…I quite enjoyed that.

(P.S.  Speaking of TANGLED UP IN LOVE, as some of you may already be aware, Dylan & Ronnie’s story is being discussed today over at Jennifer’s Random Musings as February’s Book of the Month.  Whoo-hoo!  Happy Bunny Dance!

Whether you’ve read TANGLED UP IN LOVE yet or not…though I’m sure you all have, otherwise you would have incurred Mistress Heidi’s wrath, which is never pretty … you might like to pop in & see what Jennifer has to say about the story, as well as putting in your four cents.  (Four because everybody knows that a Darling of The Dungeon’s opinion is worth at least twice as much as anyone else’s. ) )

a Friday funny

Friday, February 20th, 2009

Okay, I have to admit, I’ve been debating whether or not I should post this ever since our own “Who Knew She Was So Naughty?” Hollie sent it to me.  It’s funny as all get out, but also a little…questionable, even by Mistress Heidi’s Dungeon standards.  So I am just going to do it before I wimp out.

A word of WARNING, though:  This Friday Funny contains an explicit picture.  DO NOT let children be standing around while you’re visiting The Dungeon today.  DO NOT scroll down if you are at all feint of heart or are easily offended.  And DO NOT turn me in for running a raunchy blog.  Not only will I get in trouble, but I will be much less willing to share super-funny funnies with you in the future, & you’ll have no one to blame but yourselves.

So, without further ado, I give you:

GRANDPA’S FISH

Rented boat = $75

Bait = $10

Digital camera = $199

Getting to show off THE BIG ONE & having it posted on the internet for the whole world to see…Priceless

file000

I only have two things to say:

#1 — Underpants, Grandpa, underpants!  (Of course, I guess we now know why Grandma’s always walking around with such a big smile on her face. )

#2 — Thank God Hollie only sent me adorable fishie slippers & nothing else fish-related.  Whew.

(P.S.  Once you’ve stopped rolling on the floor & wiping the tears from your eyes, be sure to pop on over to The Good, The Bad, & The Unread for a fun “Heidi Betts Makes a Splash” segment orchestrated by our own Laura J.  (Told you she was a good little cyber-assistant/PR consultant. )  She made me answer even more fun, but truly difficult questions, so I hope you’ll drop by to witness just how easily she was able to make me squirm.  Oh, & I’ll be giving away more books, which is something else you probably don’t want to miss!)

fun & prizes

Success!  I’ve got a winner for the autographed copy of GIVE ME FEVER from Karen Anders’s first guest blog post last week.

Drum roll, please…

Robin!!!

Congratulations, Robin! Please contact me with your mailing information, & I’ll pass it along to Karen so she can send you your prize!

Don’t forget that Karen will be here again tomorrow & also next Wednesday, February 25th—with even more prizes to be given away!

Okay, that was fun, but it’s not all the fun The Dungeon has in store for you today!

Our own Lady of the Whip, Laura J., recently posted a link to the Happy Bookers loop, which turned out to be highly amusing.  Well, I got a kick out of it, anyway, & thought you might, too.  (Yes, that’s right, I stole it.  Because no matter how big Laura’s whip is, Mistress Heidi’s will always be bigger. )

This is Harlequin’s version of Put Yourself in the Story.  All you do is input your name, make a couple of choices from the drop-down menus they offer, & next thing you know, eHarlequin has generated a back cover blurb for your personal love story.

This is mine:

Dwayne Johnson Pictures, Images and PhotosDwayne, military man and captain of the infamous ship Calypso and a renowned seducer of women, has just walked into the one tavern in all of the exotic Caribbean he should have avoided. For Heidi, his sworn enemy, is the shy owner—and she has vengeance on her mind.

But before she can take her feisty revenge, she is captured by this rogue’s kiss. Her only chance for retribution is to put her career as an award-winning writer on hold and stow away on his ship for a passionate adventure that will either kill them—or bring them together once and for all!

Sigh. That sounds so nice.  And for the record, I would totally put my career on hold to stow away with Dwayne.

So run over, input your information, & then come back to share your blurb with us.  Just make sure you don’t try to claim Dwayne as your hero, as well, or bad things will happen.

Very.

Bad.

Things.

Before I forget (you know, again ), our fabulous guest blogger for this month, Heidi Betts, has drawn a name for the final book giveaway from her visit.

MySpace Smiley Sign Generator

  Trish!!!

Congratulations, Trish!  Please visit the Backlist section of my website & pick a book, then contact me with the title & your mailing information.  I’ll pass it all along to Heidi, & I’m sure she’ll get your prize out to you pronto.

So, aside from getting to give away free stuff, what am I thankful for this week?

Well, I think it goes without saying that I’m super-happy about the two super reviews I received this week from Joyfully Reviewed & Romance Reviews Today for TANGLED UP IN LOVE.  Whoo-hoo!  Happy dancing galore.

Then there’s the fact that TANGLED UP IN LOVE will be hitting shelves in only two more days.  A day & a half.  Whatever!  It’s going to be soon!  More happy dancing , although that’s nothing compared to the boogie I know I’ll be doing on Tuesday.

And one more piece of book-related information before I stop talking about it.   Last week, TANGLED UP IN LOVE was chosen as February’s Book of the Month as Jennifer’s Random Musings.  The discussion will take place on Friday, February 27th, so if you want to participate, be sure to pick up a copy of TANGLED UP IN LOVE as soon as possible & start reading.  And you may want to take notes.

I am also absolutely thrilled with the response to my Happy Bookers YahooGroup so far.  Those of you who have signed up are just too awesome—thank you.

And extra-special, extra-super thanks to our own Laura J. who has volunteered to be my liaison between The Dungeon & the Happy Bookers group.  Already, she’s posted all of my book covers…& a fabulous collection of Dwayne photos that get my heart pumping faster every time I see them …filled the calendar with my Blog Tour 2009 appearances, & is going to post any number of other things, like book blurbs, excerpts, news items, etc.  Thank you, thank you, Laura; I can’t tell you how grateful I am for your generosity & help!  To show you just a smidgen of my appreciation, this one is for you:

And last but not least, I am super-grateful at how quickly Sears was able to send someone out to repair my airbike, & how quickly the guy got it fixed once he arrived.  I am back on track, baby, & watching Burn Notice like there’s no tomorrow!  And also, House, Monk, Psych, Scrubs…  You know, a little bit of everything.

Happy Sunday, all!  I hope you have lots of things to be thankful for, too, & will share some of them with the rest of us.

(Only Mistress Heidi is happy when you have a bad week, so let’s not give her the satisfaction, okay? )

super Sunday

Sunday, January 18th, 2009

I once again have to segue away from Super Sunday for just a moment to make a prize winner announcement.  Things have been so crazy lately that there were no free days to do it on its own.  But you know I wouldn’t forget about you!

So without further ado, our wonderful guest blogger, Heidi Betts, has drawn a winner for the first of her three giveaways this month—an autographed copy of one of her backlist titles.

MySpace Smiley Sign Generator

  Bonia!!!

Congratulations, Bonia!  If you’ll go to the Books page of my website & scroll down a bit, you’ll find a full list of all my backlist titles.  Although this offer does included the HOTTER THAN HELL anthology, which is still up at the top of the page.   Once you’ve decided which you’d like, please contact me with your choice & your mailing information, & I’ll get your book out to you ASAP.

Thank you to everyone who chimed in to say hello to Heidi during her meet-&-greet.  Don’t forget, she’ll be with us again tomorrow, answering Mistress Heidi’s infamous interview questions & she’ll be giving away yet another book to one lucky winner!  You definitely don’t want to miss it!

And now to think about what we’re most thankful for this week.  It’s been a busy one, that’s for sure.  I can’t claim every second was bouncy & fun, but I would have to say that parts of it were still pretty darn terrific.

So what am I super-grateful for at the moment?

Well, I guess the first item on my list would be the wonderful, fabulous, gorgeous, incomparable new artwork for LOVES ME, LOVES ME KNOT. In fact, they made a few tiny tweaks, which I think make it even better (they darkened the guy’s hair, changed the color of my name, & added some silver knitting needles to the ball of yarn), & though I still wish they’d put my name in all capitals to make it stand out more, I also still think it’s fantastical & love it more every time I look at it.

Item #2 that I’m totally jazzed about is that I finally got caught up on getting things in the mail.  I was remiss in taking so long, I know but those “12 Days of Christmas” goodies are on their way to the twelve lucky winners now—I swear it on my gorgeous new artwork.

I’ve also pretty much caught up with the massive promo mailing I’d been working on. Yes, some of my envelopes are coming back because stores have closed or addresses have changed (& that stupid freaking post office won’t forward stuff after a certain amount of time, even though they tell me what the new address is…*&^%$!) but at a rate I can handle. And I actually appreciate being able to update my mailing list, since it’s been a while. I’m also getting requests for added bookmarks & such from stores that never seemed to want promo items before, so I take that as a very good sign.

Item #3 is you guys……because of your super enthusiasm & willingness to help me spread the word about TANGLED UP IN LOVE by handing out bookmarks & sticking up shelf-talkers. I’ve been bragging you up all week & cannot thank you enough—thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

And last but not least, I am thankful that my RITA books arrived fairly early this year, that they’re short & should be quick reads, & that they showed up just as I was finished a couple of other books & before I’d started new ones, so I don’t have to feel too much like I’m being forced to set aside one thing to do another. Although, poor Erica Spindler…it has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the book because I’m really, truly enjoying it, but LAST KNOWN VICTIM has once again gotten shoved aside while I tend to other matters. If there weren’t a deadline involved, I swear I wouldn’t do that to her. I’m not supposed to reveal which books I’m reading for the RITAs, either top secret Pictures, Images and Photos so that section of the sidebar will be blank for a while. (Which really bums me out, cuz I love putting up covers & watching them changes as I (slowly) make progress.)

Okay, that just about does it for me.  What are you happy or thankful about this week?  Other than these funky new emoticons, of course.

and the winner is…

Never think that Heidi or Mistress Heidi would forget their duties to the Darlings of the Dungeon.  We may occasionally fall behind, but we forget nothing.   And to prove it, we are here to give away much-awaited goodies.

Jessica Andersen picked a winner for the third & final autographed copy of NIGHTKEEPERS from her visit, so I am finally able to make the much-awaited announcement.

Ellen Dye!!!

Congratulations, Ellen! Please contact me with your mailing information & I’ll pass it along to Jessica so she can get your book in the mail.

Thank you again to Jessica for spending the month of December with us.  We loved having you & wish you the best of luck with the entire “Final Prophecy” series!

And thank you to everyone who dropped by to chat with Jessica.  We love having you, too!   There are more guest bloggers scheduled for the New Year, & more goodies to be giving away, so keep coming back & making your presence known.

Also falling under the category of “we haven’t forgotten, we swear!” are the prizes from the “12 Days of Christmas” giveaway.  We’ve got ‘em.  They are practically ready to go in the mail.  (Hey, I said I’d draw a winner every day, not that I’d actually get them in the mail each day, too. )  And we’ve got a really good reason for not mailing them yet—we were waiting for some extra promo goodies to arrive, which took a little longer than expected because of the holidays.  But we’ve got them now, so if you threw your name in Santa’s hat, start watching your mailbox…something fun might just show up there soon.
