Word of the Week: Chai anxiety — Feeling overwhelmed by the ridiculous number of options at the coffee shop.
So in last week’s “29th Birthday Recap,” I told you about my day. Today, I’m going to tell you about my gifts.
As in, the presents I received from people who obviously think I’m The Bomb.
If you did not send me a gift, fear not, I will not hold this against you. Perhaps you do not yet realize I’m The Bomb. Perhaps you didn’t know my address. Not to worry, I’ll have another birthday next year, & you can rectify the situation then. (And I’ll be turning 29 again, too!
)
But what I did get were two wonderful packages from a couple of our very own Darlings of the Dungeon. Total surprises, which made them even more fun!
Darling Hollie sent this box of goodies…

It was so jam-packed, I didn’t know what the heck I was going to pull out next. And almost all of it had me laughing. Allow me to conduct an item-by-item inventory.
First, we have a Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson action figure…because she couldn’t send me the real one & still wanted me to spend my birthday with my hunny.
Then we have a package of chocolate-flavored kitty cat peeps. Awesome! I didn’t even know they made these! And I haven’t tried them yet, but you can bet I’m going to!
That white “birdie” to the right is a garden glove stuffed to be flashing its middle finger. This had me rolling
because it’s based on a conversation from last summer where we all agreed it would be nice to have these in the back windows of our cars to flip off bad drivers (& other assorted idiots)—& Hollie actually figured out a way to make them! Way to go, Hollie!
Though they’re hard to make out, the blue fuzzy things are the cutest pair of slippers with all these loops of yarn making up the tops. I love them! And I’m betting my cats will, too.
Under that is a lovely soft, multi-colored scarf. She says I can use it as a giveaway at Must Love Yarn, if I want…but I’m not sure I want.
And last but not least is an adorable cake-shaped pin cushion…complete with brightly colored metallic pins to look like candles. I really love this one because—unbeknownst to Hollie—I’ve actually been needing a new pin cushion. You should see mine; it’s one of those old, pathetic tomato ones that looks like it’s been through a war, & the pins & needles already in it are such a jumbled mess, I’m often tempted to just pitch the entire thing & start over. And now I can. (Although you know I won’t. I’ll go through like a good girl & transfer the pins/needles I want to save, then give the rest to Goodwill.
)
Thank you, Hollie! It was not only a surprise to receive your package, but also huge fun discovering each new thing that was tucked inside!
And then we have a couple of wonderful goodies from Darling Laura J…

Her mother made me & my mother a couple of gorgeous, hand-made pouches to be used for credit cards or coins, or in my case, blog cards.
Mom’s has the cutest little acorn button on the front & is lined in acorn fabric, & mine of course has a kitty cat button. A fabulous kitty cat button that’s actually dangling a tiny ball of yarn. I’m blown away by how beautiful these are & by the amazing detail work. (Thank you, Laura’s Mom!
)
Between the two pouches is what Laura made for me herself—a book thong with a kitty cat on one end & a placard that says “I love cats” on the other. I do love cats, Laura, how did you know.
And you know I love to read, so I’ll be getting lots of use out of this! Thank you, Darling Laura!
Also in Laura’s package was a great birthday card sporting a half-naked hunk
, & inside that was this picture, drawn by B-girl, Darling Laura’s Darling-in-Training.
It is now on the front of my refrigerator, held up by a cat magnet, of course.
Thanks, B-girl!

And that about wraps it up for my unwrapping adventures.
Maybe next year I’ll be able to announce that Hollie found the real Dwayne for me & sent him to my house, complete with big red bow.
You can even mark him COD, ’cause that’s one present I would not mind paying for myself!

Fabulous gifts! And clearly, I owe you big for next year.
Will get busy figuring out how much it costs to rent Dwayne by the hour…
Awesome gifts! That is so cool!
FYI – got the box yesterday
Oh, and here is my very mean brother’s answer when I told him I wanted one of my favorite hockey players for Christmas:
“You do realize kidnapping’s a felony right?”
Party pooper…
Maisey–It’s Dwayne….you need to think bigger like—how much would it cost to rent him say….I dunno…maybe…oh….FOREVER?!?!
Oh Hollie….I know someone else’s birthday that is coming up very soon……
(just kidding–love the glove!!!!)
I’m so glad you liked everything and had such a fantastic birthday.
What wonderful (and creative) presents! It just goes to show how wonderful dungeon dwellers are!
Renting Dwayne forever? Too rich for my blood…maybe if we all go in on him? *sigh* I meant, maybe if we all pay for some of the gift…geez…get your minds out of the dungeon!
Cute cute cute, you did not get a gift from me as I was looking for something cute and creative,since I did not find just the right thing, therefore no gift, but I am looking. those were the best,, way to go girls…
I am soo glad that you liked everything!! It was fun putting it together!
Laura…send me your addy and i’ll see what i can do! LOLOL….
nice little bags!those are soo cute!
I’ll keep working on getting Dwayne! He maybe a little difficult to find! but hope springs eternal!! snork!
If we have learned anything from Gage & Jenna, it’s that it’s only really kidnapping for the first 5mins…then it’s entirely consensual.
So, really, you only have to negotiate a small rental fee with Dwayne for maybe, say, an hour…& I’ll take it from there. I promise that before my time is up, he won’t remember being rented out & will be begging me to let him stay.
Hmmm…consensual kidnapping…
Oh my goodness! What totally amazing packages of birthday awesomeness!! Laura J and Hollie clearly rock! And you, Heidi, truly truly do rock! Happy belated 29th, and hope this year was one for the ages
Until next year, of course, when Mr. Johnson appears on your doorstep, live and in person
