just a-bloggin'

I've been hearing so much about blogging lately that I thought I'd give it a try. Lord knows I love a captive audience willing to listen to my wild meanderings. :-p Unfortunately, I can't promise I'll have much to say or remember to post very often. In which case, maybe we should call this my blah-og.

You've lucked out this time, tho, because it's actually been a busy couple of days. Yesterday was my RWA Chapter meeting, also known as CARA. Only two of us were able to make it because of the busy holiday season, but we still enjoyed ourselves. And it gave us a chance to spend a little more time brainstorming.

I had a busy day Friday, too. It all began when my editor e-mailed to say she was moving the book I just turned in from November to September on the release schedule. I'm certainly fine with that! But somehow, we started discussing the amount of time that would then be between my September 2005 and May 2006 books...& it seems I'm going to be writing another one right away to fill the gap. Egads, the pressure! LOL No, actually, I'm really happy about it. I'm not sure what type of story I'll be doing just get, but already I can't wait to get started.

And while all that was going on, the UPS man pulled up to the house. I love to see the UPS & Fed Ex guys! You never know what they'll be bringing. This time, however, it was an especially nice surprise--the author copies for BOUGHT BY A MILLIONAIRE. I couldn't believe it. It's only the middle of December & MILLIONAIRE is a February release...I never expected the book to be ready this early.

I swear, you'd think this was my very first book instead of my seventh, as excited as I was. I guess the thrill never really goes away, no matter how many books you've written & gotten to see in print. So I walked around, hugging a copy to my chest the rest of the day, petting it, looking through every page, admiring the beautiful cover art. And pretty soon it will be on bookstore shelves so I can run around signing copies & sticking them with "autographed copy" labels. :-)

Now that I know I have a couple more tight deadlines lined up, tho, there's no time to waste--no more watching movies or sitting around reading just for the heck of it...at least not after the holidays. For the holidays, I may very well watch a few of my favorite movies, like SCROOGED & ELF.
