question of the week

So I'm reading the Kick@ss anthology from Berkley, with stories by Maggie Shayne, MaryJanice Davidson, Angela Knight, & Jacey Ford. (Yeah, I'm a little behind--so sue me. *g*) And it's good, don't get me wrong. Loved Maggie's & Angela's stories.

But every single time I've finished one story & jumped immediately into the next--and this is pretty much true of all anthologies, not just this one--I've had trouble getting interested in the new story right away. I don't know if the beginnings were actually slow or if I'm still feeling more connected to the previous novella than the current one. It's very peculiar. :-p

And that's the question I have for you guys:

When you read an anthology or collection of stories by multiple authors, do you have trouble transitioning from one story to the next? And if so, why do you think that is?
