it *is* just me!

I was reading through the TV Guide last night & spotted a "Jeer of the Week" for the episode of My Name is Earl that was on while I was at my conference in West Virginia.

Now, I don't usually watch My Name is Earl. Don't know why, but it just never grabbed me, even though I do think the concept is a cute one. But the cable at the hotel where I was staying wasn't great, so I did end up watching this particular episode.

And here's the thing--I thought it was really funny. I'd never seen it before, & was suddenly feeling kind of guilty about not watching because the show had me laughing out loud. But now the TV Guide is panning that episode as one of the worst ever.

What is with that?!? It was not a bad episode; I actually quite enjoyed it. Of course, I haven't watched Earl since, so I don't know how fabulous the show is normally, but still...

Did anyone see it? (It was the one where Earl & his friends stole shoes at the bowling alley, & ended up swiping a cop's badge. See, clever. Very clever!) And is it just me, or was that actually a decent show? Somebody tell me I haven't fallen into a parallel universe where nobody knows what good TV is anymore. (And that person could be me! Aaack!)
