Did you know that not every word an author writes for a particular story necessarily makes it into the final book? That's why their bosses are called editors. :-)
As you're reading WHEN THE LIGHTS GO DOWN--which should start to show up in stores in only another week or so!!!--take note of what Gwen is wearing the first time she visits Ethan's nightclub, The Hot Spot. Originally, I had her in a short black skirt, leather bustier with silver buckles, and silver platform sandals. Perfect for a nightclub, but maybe a little over-the-top for Desire, so I had no problem at all toning it down when my editor asked me to.
The same goes for Ethan's bedroom. Given the kind of guy he is...or was before Gwen entered his life...I can totally see him owning a round bed and having mirrors on the ceiling. Believe me, those mirrors would have gotten a lot of use. But now his bedroom houses a simple king-size bed, and the ceiling is just a ceiling. He got to keep his satin sheets, tho. :-)
Next week, I'll tell you who the hero on the cover of WHEN THE LIGHTS GO DOWN reminds me of. Can you hazard a guess?
