a new release date & the new TV Guide sucks
Found out yesterday, while talking with my editor, that THE SECOND MRS. RAMSEY (if it actually remains THE SECOND MRS. RAMSEY) has been moved up on the schedule from December 2006 to September 2006. That's cool. I definitely like having less time between it and my May release. Now I just need to get the book written & turned in.
And has everyone seen the new, full-size, magazine-like TV Guide? Does anyone else think it sucks big-time? Honest to God, what are they thinking? If I wanted a magazine devoted to what's happening on television & behind the scenes, I'd subscribe to Entertainment Weekly. Oh, wait, I do! I want TV Guide as a guide to what's on TV. Gee, what a novel concept.
Meanwhile, this new version lists the major network shows that appear on a regular basis on about three pages at the back of the magazine, then list "Local Programming" for everything else. Gee, what a big help--not. I mean, I'm pretty sure the local programming is what I need, since I already know that CSI is on Thursdays & L&O: CI is on Sundays... And it only covers prime time, with the exception of some very sketchy late night coverage (most times are covered by "Movie" or "Various Programming"...wow, tell me more! tell me more!) so if I'm still up at 2am or want to watch TV at 9am, I'm on my own.
How pissed am I that my subscription is renewed thru 2007, hm? This new version is a complete waste of time & money. I'd be better off using the weekly listing that comes with the Sunday paper, or printing a local schedule off the internet--which is probably what I'll end up doing. The only thing I'll still look forward to in this stupid thing is the horoscope. :-P
